Feb Half Term Homeworksmiley

On the week beginning the 20th of March we have our school science week. During this week you will be putting on a science fair for parents to come and visit. Over the holidays we would like you to collect together ideas that you could use to put together a short demonstration as part of the fair. Keep it fairly simple as you must be able to explain the science behind it to others (if you don’t understand the science behind it– you can’t do it!)

There are some links below that you might like to use to get some ideas from. You may have some ideas already using what you know. Feel free to try things out at home as long as there is someone to help you!

Don’t try do anything without a responsible adult!!

Have fun with it and see what you can find out!

24/03/17

This week we have been looking at the water cycle. Rivers form an important part of the water cycle as water makes it’s way from higher ground back down to the oceans and seas.

For your homework this week I’d like you to find out what you can about a river of your choice. It could be a mighty river like the Amazon or a local river like the Dane. Here are a few facts you might find that might help.

· Where does it start? (it’s source)

· How long is it?

· Which settlements does it travel through?

· What kind of plants and animals live in it/ on it’s banks?

· How do people use it?

See what you can find out and present it in your homework book. If you go to see a river don’t forget they can be dangerous places– river banks can be very slippery at this time of year and high rainfall means that water levels can be higher with the flow much stronger than usual. You certainly shouldn’t be anywhere near one without a responsible adult!
